Healthy Weight Management
## The Problem
Aliyah immigrants gain on average 8-12 kg in the first year. After 10 years, obesity rates are ×2.4 the average. Average BMI rises from 22 (in Ethiopia) to 28 (in Israel).
## Effective Strategies
Keep tradition: injera instead of white bread (significantly lower glycaemic index), home cooking, family meals. Add movement: 30-minute daily walk, swimming, Ethiopian dance (full fitness + cultural connection).
Meal planning: 3 fixed meals (don't skip breakfast). Plate: 50% vegetables, 25% protein, 25% carbohydrates. Drink 8 glasses of water daily.
