## Two Different Types

Type 1 (insulin-dependent): autoimmune — pancreas doesn't produce insulin. Appears suddenly, any age. Not lifestyle-related. Type 2: linked to weight gain and sedentary lifestyle. **Sharply rising** in community youth due to dietary changes.

## Warning Signs in Children

Intense thirst, frequent urination, sudden weight loss, extreme fatigue, recurrent skin infections.

## Treatment in Israel

CGM (continuous glucose monitor): covered in health basket for all diabetics. Insulin pump: for children — covered. Paediatric diabetes clinic: at every major hospital.

## Daily Management

Insulin (type 1): essential + continuous monitoring. Carbohydrate counting — paediatric dietitian. Inform school — emergency kit in classroom.
