Migraine & Chronic Headache

## Migraine — Not Just a Headache

Migraine is a neurological disease with severe, often one-sided headaches accompanied by nausea, light and sound sensitivity, and sometimes visual "aura." **3× more common in women.**

## Treatment

Prevention (4+ attacks/month): Topiramate, Amitriptyline (low dose), Botox for chronic headache (covered in basic basket!).

During attack: Triptans (Sumatriptan, Rizatriptan) — most effective. Ibuprofen/paracetamol for mild attacks.

## Triggers — Keep a Migraine Diary

Aged cheese, red wine, chocolate. Prolonged hunger, low hydration. Sleep disruption (including oversleeping). Strong smells.

📞 Neurologist referral via GP
