**Glaucoma** (high intraocular pressure) is more common among people of African origin — including the Ethiopian-Israeli community. Risk: untreated glaucoma causes irreversible blindness.

## Common Eye Conditions

Glaucoma: ×2.1 more common than Ashkenazi average. AMD (macular degeneration): linked to common diabetes. Early cataract: related to sun exposure + malnutrition. Uncorrected vision problems: 34% of community children without glasses.

## Eye Exam

Annual from age 40 / annual for diabetics. Free in basic health basket — ask GP for referral.

## Red Flags — Immediate

Sudden blurred vision, severe eye pain, flashes of light. Rainbow halo around lights in the morning — sign of glaucoma.
