Long-Term Care Benefit (Gimlat Siud)
A National Insurance benefit for elderly people dependent on others for daily activities — provided mainly as in-home care services.
What is the Long-Term Care Benefit?
The Long-Term Care Benefit (Gimlat Siud) is provided by the National Insurance Institute to people of retirement age (and over) who need another person's help with daily activities — such as bathing, dressing, eating and mobility — or who need supervision.
What do you receive?
The benefit is given mostly as in-kind services rather than cash:
- A home caregiver for a set number of weekly hours
- Adult day-care services (day center)
- Aids and absorbent products in certain cases
- In some situations — the option to receive the benefit as cash
Eligibility level
Determined by a dependency (ADL) test and an income test. The greater the dependency, the more hours are granted.
How to apply
- Contact a National Insurance (BTL) branch or call *6050 / 1-700-50-90-00
- The Institute sends an assessor to evaluate dependency at home
