Why a network matters especially here
A Ministry of Economy employer survey found that only 5.6% of employers expressed willingness to employ Ethiopian-Israelis — the lowest of any group surveyed (Haredim 8.7%, Arabs 7.4%). What that means in practice: the biggest barrier is the screening stage, before anyone has read your CV properly.
So an approach through a person — a mentor, an alum, a referrer — is worth more than a blind application through a jobs site. That is not soft advice; it is matching the strategy to where the barrier actually is.
Note: this page previously said community members must "submit 30%+ more CVs". That figure appears in no study of Ethiopian-Israelis. The well-known Israeli CV experiment compared Ashkenazi and Mizrahi names, not Ethiopian-Israelis.
