Are there employment scholarships for community members?
What actually exists
- ISEF — a veteran scholarship fund. It selects on first-generation-to-higher-education and periphery criteria, not on Ethiopian origin. The amount is set with the institution and is not published as a single figure — ask the fund.
- Tech-Career — tech training for community members, run by an independent nonprofit (not ENP).
- The vocational training voucher scheme (Ministry of Labour) — Ethiopian-origin applicants are in Group A, which carries the higher subsidy rate. Details in the trades question.
- The institutions' own scholarships — every university and college has a dean of students with aid scholarships and dedicated funds. This is the best place to start and the most overlooked.
Two things removed from this page
It previously listed "Hesegim — full 3-year funding" and an "excellence-employment" top-up of ₪3-5K/year. "Hesegim" is not a scholarship — it is a guidance programme for grades 7-12 that awards no money. The ₪3-5K top-up appears in no source. Both were removed.
How to apply
Each fund has its own process and deadlines. Always ask for the eligibility terms and the amount in writing from the fund itself before counting on any figure.
