About Sderot
Sderot, located adjacent to the Gaza border, hosts a long-established Israeli-Ethiopian community that has dealt with security challenges alongside economic hardship. The community has demonstrated remarkable resilience, and development projects in the city offer new housing opportunities.
Who is eligible?
- Elementary and middle-school children (6-14)
- Families with income below the ceiling (auto-aligned with daycare-subsidy eligibility)
- New immigrants in their first 5 years
- Families with 3+ children
- Veteran community members with low income
What's included?
- School camp: 3-4 weeks in August, up to 80% subsidy
- ENP camps: community-dedicated — August, in community areas. Focus on excellence + heritage.
- Community center camps: up to 60% discount
- Heritage tracks: Sigd workshops, Amharic, Ethiopian art
How to register
- Via school: counselor or principal — fill subsidy form
- Via municipality: education department — online registration, May-June
- Via ENP: regional ENP coordinator
- Conditional voucher: sometimes received mid-year
