National Insurance for Ethiopian Immigrants — What You Get and When in Arad

Register Within 3 Months

Registration at the National Insurance Institute (BTL) is not automatic. You must appear in person within 3 months of aliyah to protect your full benefit entitlement. Bring your teudat oleh, Israeli ID (if issued), and an Israeli bank account number.

What You Get From Day One

Child allowance — no waiting period. Approximately ₪180–245/month per child (2025). Submit Form 707 within 12 months of the child's birth or aliyah.

Waiting Periods

  • Child allowance: zero (immediate)
  • Maternity/birth grant: 6 months of insurance coverage
  • Disability benefit: 6 months
  • Unemployment benefit: 6 months + 12 months of prior work

Maternity Benefits for New Immigrants

New-immigrant women who give birth are entitled to a one-time birth grant (approx. ₪1,750) even without prior employment. Maternity-leave pay requires prior employment in Israel or qualifying employment abroad.

Income Support

Immigrants with no minimum income are entitled to income-support (Havtachat Hachnasah) — approx. ₪3,100–4,800/month depending on family composition.
