About Rishon LeZion
Rishon LeZion is home to a large, active Israeli-Ethiopian community, historically concentrated in the Ramat Eliyahu neighbourhood — originally built as absorption housing and now a long-standing community centre. The neighbourhood is at the heart of urban-renewal efforts, alongside a growing second-generation presence across the city.
Who is eligible?
- PhD or post-doctoral scholar of Ethiopian origin
- Research in: education, social policy, economics, sociology, social work, or governance
- With confirmed acceptance to an accredited program
- Commitment to translating research findings for community benefit
What's included?
- Annual stipend ₪70,000–₪140,000
- Independent research budget ₪15,000–₪20,000
