Who is it for?

• No origin criterion. ISEF selects first-generation higher-education students from the geographic and social periphery. Community members qualify like anyone meeting the conditions — but this is not an Ethiopian-specific scholarship, as this page previously stated in error
• Students at a recognized Israeli academic institution
• Socio-economic circumstances are weighed

What's included?

• Master's: ₪21,000–₪23,500 a year, "jointly with the academic institutions and further partners" — the fund's own wording. Bachelor's: ₪23,000–₪28,000 a year. The fund reserves the right to change amounts
• Academic and career mentorship through the ISEF alumni network

What to know before applying — the conditions that disqualify people

These are conditions ISEF publishes itself, and they catch applicants who did not read them:

• Compulsory attendance at a national social-leadership program — about 10 meetings a year, on Fridays, in Tel Aviv. If you live in the north or the south, that is ten travel days
• 60 volunteer hours a year on an educational or social project of the fund
• "The student does not study on Fridays" — an explicit condition. A timetable with a Friday course disqualifies you
• The master's track runs only at the institutions where the fund operates
• An undertaking not to act against the values of a fund that defines itself as "a non-political, Jewish and Zionist fund"

How to apply

1. On admission to one of the institutions where the fund operates, and no later than the end of July, complete the application forms on the site
2. Suitable candidates are invited to a screening workshop and admission interview

(The number of recommendation letters required and the decision turnaround appear on no page of the fund. What previously stood here — "2 letters of recommendation", "decision within 4–8 weeks" — has been removed.)

Important dates

The annual round closes at the end of July. As of 15.9.2026 the fund's homepage announces: "registration for the doctoral program and the master's has ended" — the 2026-27 round is closed.
