Why this comparison
Both tracks are the primary defaults for outstanding Ethiopian-Israeli students. The differences are practical — not quality-related.
How to choose
- GPA 85+, leadership potential, planning MA/PhD: ISEF gives more. Higher amounts, an academic mentor, and the MA/PhD track make for a longer career path.
- GPA 80-85, want to start without a complex interview: Hesegim is more accessible. 75% tuition + ₪2,500 monthly is meaningful, and the larger cohort means less in-group competition.
- Both together? No. Double-scholarship rules disqualify one.
Additional perspectives
- ENP runs Hesegim at Tier-1 — a clear communication channel with the community.
- ISEF requires an active alumni network — applicants without community-engagement potential are filtered out.
- Both require Ethiopian origin (at least one parent born in Ethiopia).
Action plan
- Check your criteria against both.
- If eligible for both: weigh ISEF's lifetime value (MA/PhD if you continue) against Hesegim's BA-only coverage.
- Apply to ISEF in May-June, Hesegim in summer.
