Israel Innovation Authority tech-training funding + new Lod campus — what's new in 2026
Dedicated government funding for tech training
The Ministry of Labor and the Israel Innovation Authority are launching a community-focused tech-training program with a 10 million ILS budget, aiming to train roughly 500 men and women from the Ethiopian-Israeli community within two years. This differs from existing private training programs (like Tech-Career) — it is a cross-cutting government allocation, not a single organization's program.
New tech campus in Lod
Alongside the funding, a dedicated tech training and entrepreneurship campus is being built in Lod, with construction completion planned for the end of 2026. Lod is also one of the key target cities in the community's urban-renewal plan (see urban renewal in Ramat Ashkol, Lod) — the campus creates a direct link between improved housing and improved employment opportunities in the same city.
Entrepreneurship and management track — Unit 8200 alumni
The Unit 8200 alumni association runs a dedicated program advancing entrepreneurship and management (not just technical training) among Ethiopian-Israelis — a different angle from the existing technical tracks, focused on management skills, building startups, and connections to senior hi-tech mentors.
