A study published on 31 March 2026 in the Journal of Migration and Health assessed 90 Ethiopian-born patients at a Hadassah clinic. The central finding is not about the illness — it is about what happens when you ask in the right language. The authors' conclusion applies well beyond the group studied.

The Knesset Research Center paper on the health of Ethiopian-Israelis presents two figures that must be read together: over-representation in psychiatric hospital admissions, and under-representation — falling — in community rehabilitation baskets. That is the difference between being treated and being hospitalised.
