What is Mahash?
Mahash — the Police Internal Investigations Department — is a unit within the Justice Ministry (not the police itself) responsible for investigating suspected criminal offenses committed by police officers in the line of duty. This includes unjustified use of force, violence, abuse and other offenses.
How to file a complaint
- You can file directly with Mahash (Justice Ministry website) — in writing, by email or by phone
- Document as much as possible: date, time, place, officers' names/numbers, witnesses, footage
- Keep medical records if physical harm occurred
- You may seek help from a lawyer or an aid organization
