What is this program?
A dedicated pre-academic prep program at Bar-Ilan University for Ethiopian-Israeli community members who need academic reinforcement before starting an undergraduate degree.
Who is eligible?
- Ethiopian-Israeli high-school graduates interested in academic study at Bar-Ilan or elsewhere after the prep year
What's included?
- English and math reinforcement to the level required for an undergraduate degree
- Dormitory scholarship (housing on the Bar-Ilan campus)
The Yoel Program (Chiburim association)
Alongside the mechina runs the Yoel Program — "Ethiopian-Israelis to quality academia" — established and operated by the Chiburim association, supporting mechina students with:
- A scholarship contributing to dormitory financing
- Daily academic reinforcement after mechina hours
- Enrichment, group bonding, and personal empowerment
- Individual mentoring that continues into the degree
- Guidance and assistance toward suitable employment
