"7 Days" investigation: police sorted stations by a "traffic-light model" — 5 stations rated "red"
What the investigation found
A ynet "7 Days" investigative report (19.6.2026) revealed that Israel Police sorted 26 stations with significant Ethiopian-Israeli populations using an internal "traffic-light model" — green, yellow, red — based on assessed tension levels between officers and the community. 5 stations were rated "red," requiring deeper intervention: Kiryat Gat, Rehovot, Yavne, Afula, and Kiryat Malakhi — all cities with significant community concentrations, several already familiar from this site's urban-renewal coverage.
The data gap
A key point raised in the investigation: enforcement data regarding Ethiopian-Israelis hasn't been published since 2023 — making it difficult for police representatives who appeared before a Knesset discussion (chaired by MK Michael Biton) to present an up-to-date picture. This lack of data transparency is itself a recurring point of criticism from community organizations.
