Mehereta Baruch-Ron placed 26th on the Democrats list submitted to the Elections Committee
The finding
The Central Elections Committee publishes on its site every candidate list submitted, with the full names of the candidates and their order. We went through the candidate names on the 18 lists submitted on day one, 7 September 2026.
On the list of The Democrats, led by Yair Golan (ballot letters אמת), on the page the committee published on 7 September 2026, at number 26:
> "26. Baruch Ron Mehereta — on behalf of the Democrats party, founded by the Labour movement"
Who she is
Mehereta Baruch-Ron is a politician, actress and television presenter. She served as deputy mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo on behalf of Meretz, and she is the first member of the Ethiopian-Israeli community elected to the Tel Aviv-Yafo city council and the first to serve as deputy mayor of the city.
What this says, and what it does not
What can be said with certainty: she appears at number 26 on the list submitted to the committee.
What cannot be said: whether the slot is realistic. That is a question of results, not of facts — it depends on how many seats the list wins on 27 October 2026. Tedros does not publish seat projections and takes no position on any party.
Also important: the submitted lists have not yet been approved. Approval of candidate lists is set for 27 September 2026 and their formal publication for 18 October 2026; changes are possible until then.
A transparency note on the scope of this check
We checked the candidate names on the 18 lists submitted on 7 September 2026 only. The second submission day is 8 September 2026, and large parties — Likud among them — had not yet submitted their lists when the committee's page was updated. This article should therefore not be read as a complete map of community representation in this election; it is a partial snapshot of a single day. We will return to the subject once the picture is complete.
